ABOUT US

THE NAME

DNKT. And what does it mean?

DNKT - short for Dunkite - the plural word for jeans in Bulgarian.

Us doing jeans resell business in the past under the name Dunkite, it only made sense to continue the legacy, the direction.

But where does the word "Dunki" come from?

THE DONKEY

It's the 80's. The contraband market in Bulgaria is flourishing.

Merchants, importing items from the far West, under the radar, manage to bring jeans for the first time in their home country. More specifically - the Levi's Donkey denim collection.

"Donkey", being written with bigger letters than "Levi's", was mistaken for the name of the actual product. This is how the word dunki was born (denim jeans).

But it's not only this!

Centuries ago the donkey was used as a symbol for strength, endurance and humbleness.

Nowadays being treated as a forgotten underdog, we are here to show you what the Donkey is really capable of...

THE JEANS

Each pair of DNKT jeans starts in Bulgaria, where skilled hands cut and stitch with purpose.

Made from 100% cotton denim, they carry the weight of honest material.

The fabric is sturdy, yet it molds to you - growing softer, truer, more personal with every wear.

Time works with these jeans, not against them.

Our signature donkey embroideries are not just details - they’re stories. Stitched into the seams, each donkey tells its own tale.

But behind every stitch, there are minds and makers...

THE CREATORS

Peter and Martin.

Peter started his journey in the realm of clothes and fashion at a young age. Having the advantage of being a son of a designer mother - it only made sense for him to give sewing and creating full garments a try.

Martin has explored various crafts in the past, but none captured his attention quite like denim. Balancing logistics and creativity, he has immersed himself deeply in all aspects of the jeanswear industry.

Together, they bring instinct and precision - craft and obsession.

**

Everyone involved in the making of DNKT, from the sewing to the details on the buttons, shares the same Bulgarian soil.

It’s not just made in Bulgaria — it’s made of Bulgaria.

The goal in theory is simple - create something with a purpose, something that is going to fit everybody on every characteristic.

Something that is going to help build not just a denim brand, but a denim culture.
